July 23, 2019 AmerCareRoyal Marketing

This Veterans Day, entertain the kids while honoring our veterans by making your very own American flag paper bag kite!

Supplies to gather:

  • A paper grocery bag - any size will do, but we recommend a 6# or 12#

  • A blue marker or paint

  • White star stickers or star-shaped paper cut outs

  • Optional glitter for sparkle

  • Craft glue

  • Wooden craft or popsicle sticks

  • Red and white party streamers

  • Yarn, string, or twine

Step One:

Color or paint the entire paper grocery bag blue and allow it to dry.  If you wish to glitter your bag, lightly sprinkle the glitter over the blue paint before it dries.

Step Two:

Adhere your white or silver star decorations all over your painted paper bag.  If you have used craft glue, allow it to dry.

Step Three:

Cut a small hole in the bottom of the paper grocery bag.

Step Four:

Insert your string through the hole in your paper grocery bag and tie it securely to your popsicle stick.  Tie the opposite side of the string to a second popsicle stick.

Step Five:

Glue your white and red streamers to the inside edges of the paper bag.

Step Six:

Now it’s time to give it a whirl.  If conditions are not ideal for flying a kite, it’s still fun for kids to swing it around or use them party décor!
